How to Choose the Best Laptop (Notebook)

Choosing the best laptop is surely a difficult question. There are so many computer brands that are the best in their class. But a person has to compromise on one on one feature or the other. Let’s know some things that you need to remember before choosing the best laptop or notebook.

How to Choose the Best Laptop (Notebook)

If you are going in for a new laptop, you need to actually research on many things that would lead to the best one. You can’t just go to the shop, pick out a brand and take it home. Such a decision will probably waste your money and end up leaving you dissatisfied. There may be some people who would be upgrading from a desktop to a laptop. For them, this is a very hard decision to make as they know very little or nothing about laptops. There are also some people who are currently using laptops, but want to discard their old ones and pick up a new one. As they know all or most of the things in laptops, it won’t be a tough decision. Choosing the best laptop depends upon many factors, but primarily depends upon the time one needs to use it. One needs to be very careful in choosing the best laptop if he’s going to use the same laptop for a considerable number of years.

Before you buy a laptop or notebook, you have to note down all the things that you expect as a user. Needs of a student from a laptop will be different from the needs of a software professional. There are many factors that need to be considered before taking a well informed decision. Some are mentioned below.

Budget: This is the most thought on factor before buying the best laptop. People may have different budgets for laptops. Nowadays, feature-rich laptops don’t come expensive. Gone are the days when a good laptop cost a fortune. There is a wide range of laptops available that are filled with the best features and are also inexpensive at the same time. So a person with a low budget can also get the benefits of a laptop with all the necessary functions. A budget of a student can’t compared with that of a corporate professional. But there are some people who don’t have any budget constraints and are brand conscious. There are many companies that offer free laptop accessories as gifts with every buy; like pen drives, web-cam, laptop bags, and software, so one wouldn’t need to spend extra for purchasing them separately.

Physical and Performance Features: People who don’t have budget and brand restrictions don’t compromise on the laptop’s features. They want what they need, and so don’t care about the brand, make, and price of the laptop. There are, however, some physical and performance features that have to be thought upon, like the hard disk capacity, RAM, processor speed, battery life, USB ports, optical drives, screen sizes, weight, size. Laptops with 2 Ghz processors or more are faster than the usual ones. The RAM should be at least 512 MB to stop the laptop from hanging when multiple tasks are performed on it. It is advisable to have a laptop that has at least 100 GB of hard disk space with a speed of 7200 rpm. If you are deciding on using your laptop primarily for gaming, a quality sound and graphic card need to be incorporated in the laptop. However, quality USB ports and optical drives are installed in every laptop. The laptop’s size and screen size also matter for consumers, as laptops come with different screen sizes and physical features.

Brand: There are many people who like to buy products of a particular brand and have created a reputation for that brand because they have used their product. There are various companies and brands that are introducing new products in the electronic market, which confuses prospective consumers. Laptop brands are judged by their strong and common features. A function in a laptop of a particular brand may not be present in a laptop of a different brand. Brands are also considered a status symbol and can create a good impression. A first-time laptop user will never consider a brand before buying as he’ll be interested in the features.

The best way to purchase a new laptop is to research the Internet, compare various laptops, take a printout of the lists, features, and comparison charts, go to the shop, practically check out all laptops, and then choose the best one for you. You will certainly be happy with your decision.
