Heat from my laptop used to cause me to work more on my desk than on my lap. I found it impossible to find a cooler that would allow me work with my laptop on my lap comfortably....then I found a company that makes cooling pads. The pad is called HeatShift and the company that makes them says it lowers the notebook temp. by 9-11F, while I've never measured this, I can say it seems to work well and I'm very satisfied.
